RUN CLUB (YEARS 4 – 12)

Mentone Grammar offers students in Years 4 – 12 the opportunity to participate in a voluntary Run Club.

There is a Junior program for students in Years 4 – 6 commencing in Term 2 and a Senior program for students in Years 7 – 12 commencing in Term 1. Both programs continue throughout Terms 2 & 3 each year.

Junior Run Club (Years 4 – 6)

The Junior Run Club is designed for students who already have a strong running base and are comfortable participating in high‑intensity training sessions. This program is suited to students who enjoy endurance running and are aiming to represent the School in competitive running events.

The program focuses on developing fitness, pacing, and race preparedness. Students will be monitored during the first few weeks, and families will be notified if the program is not deemed suitable for their child.

Supervision & Medical Requirements

Each session will be supervised by coaches who hold basic first aid qualifications. Please note that no additional medical support or specialised training services will be available.

As coaching staff may vary from week to week, students who attend should be able to independently manage any existing medical conditions and possess at least a moderate level of fitness.

Sessions will typically involve running distances of up to 6kms. Due to the nature of the activity and its voluntary format, the program cannot be individually tailored to student needs.

Staff will monitor participation and wellbeing, but if a student appears to be experiencing difficulty, the School will contact the student and/or parents to discuss whether ongoing participation is appropriate.
