Junior Sport (Years 4 – 6)

Students begin their Mentone Grammar sport journey from Year 4 competing in two main competitions.

The first is the Primary School Sport of Victoria (SSV) through the Cheltenham District. This provides opportunities for students to represent our School across a wide range of individual and team sports competing against a number of local schools. The second is the Junior Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) competition.

Major carnivals in athletics, cross country and swimming are held in both competitions, along with fun round robins and competitive team sport tournaments hosted throughout the year.

Voluntary Sports

In addition to the sport opportunities through SSV and AGSV, Junior students can also choose to participate in a range of other sports throughout the year.

Aerobics (Years 3 – 12)

Snow Sports (F – Year 12)

Junior Sport Uniform Requirements

Swimming

  • Students can choose to wear the Mentone Grammar swim wear, but this is not compulsory and they can wear their own bathers/swim shorts.
  • Bikinis or two-piece suits are NOT permitted.
  • Students must wear the MG swim cap.

All Sports

  • All other sports will require the Mentone Grammar core PE uniform.
  • A relevant sport playing top may be provided by the School (if required).
