SMART Program

The SMART Program is a cocurricular program, running adjacent to the Saturday sport program, which provides students in Years 8 – 12 with the opportunity to participate annually in one season of a cocurricular pursuit in lieu of a Saturday sport.

Our SMART Program is designed to enable students to discover and cultivate their cocurricular talents, under the guidance of specialist facilitators.

Courses within SMART are determined by the interests of students and made available to students based on that interest.

Student Eligibility

Students in Years 8 – 12 can apply for a position within the SMART Program.

Students are only permitted to apply for either the Summer or Winter season of the SMART Program each year, i.e., they must complete at least one season of sport in any given year.

Students in Year 7 are permitted to apply for the SMART Program when completing their nominations for the following year (i.e. a student in Year 7 can apply for the Winter or Summer season they will complete in Year 8).

Subject Options

SMART Program courses change depending on the interests of the applying student cohort. Choices available for students to nominate may include:

  • Dance (Years 8 – 12)
  • Drama (Years 8 – 12)
  • eSports (Years 8 – 12)
  • Food Technology (Years 9 – 12)
  • Music (Years 9 – 12)
  • Photography (Years 11 & 12)
  • Robotics (Year 8)
  • Visual Arts (Years 8 – 12)

Some SMART Program courses are only available to students within specific year levels, and not all courses are guaranteed to run. Students can access a description of each course when completing their nominations.

Application Process

Students can apply for the SMART Program when completing their sport & SMART nominations via Clipboard. This nomination period occurs before the start of the Summer and Winter seasons.

Students will be notified via email whether they have received a position within their preferred course. Students who are not in the SMART Program must participate in the Saturday sport program.
