Spring Season
The optional Spring Season offers Athletics and Water Polo to students in Years 7 – 12.
Matches commence immediately following the end of the Winter season in Term 3 (early August) with the training program commencing in Term 2 each year.
Training sessions for both these sports require training commitments:
- Water Polo | Before school
- Athletics | After school
The Athletics program is led by specialists Craig Mottram and Kelly Hethrington. The Term 3 program provides students with the opportunity to develop their skills in a supportive and competitive environment and caters to a range of abilities, from those new to athletics through to experienced competitors.
Training Structure
- One compulsory after-school training session per week (commencing Week 1, Term 3)
- One optional after-school training session for additional development.
- Saturday morning sessions offered from early August
Team Selection
Sign-up is through Clipboard and promoted to students via the usual channels.
Selection for the Athletics Squad is based on performances and data collected at the House Athletics Carnival in Term 1.
Students who are not initially selected are still encouraged to sign up for Athletics as the program is inclusive and provides opportunities for all students to improve and be considered for the final Team Selection.
Competition
The highlight of the season is the AGSV Athletics Championships:
- 2026: Wednesday 9 September | Albert Park
Water Polo provides Years 7-12 students with an exciting opportunity to develop their fitness, teamwork, and game awareness in a fast-paced aquatic game. The program is led by Nick Booth and is open to students of varying experience levels, with a focus on skill development, enjoyment, and competitive play.
The School currently has two boys teams and one girls team, but the program continues to grow and teams will be added as required.
Sign-up is through Clipboard and promoted to students via usual channels.
