FROGMORE: YEAR 11

As students enter into Year 11, they commence the VCE – a senior secondary certificate of education.

Students begin to specialise in subjects aligned with their interests, strengths, and future pathways, while developing greater independence, responsibility, and study skills. This year plays an important role in preparing students for Year 12, further education, training, or employment.

Year 11 VCE Examinations

Year 11 examinations will take place during the scheduled exam periods: mid-year and end of year.

The exam timetable will be available to students via Canvas and sent to parents during Term 2 & Term 4.

  • Exams provide an opportunity to demonstrate understanding of course content, practise assessment expectations in preparation for Year 12 and develop key skills such as revision, time management, and exam techniques. All students are encouraged to do their best.
  • Parents are encouraged to support students by helping them establish effective study routines, maintain balance, and prioritise wellbeing during this period.
  • During the exam period, Year 11 students will be on Study Leave and need only attend school for scheduled exams.
  • A supervised study space will be available for students who wish to remain at school between exams; however, spaces will be limited and strictly silent space for individual study.
  • Students studying a Unit 3/4 subject are expected to attend those classes as normal during this time if they do not clash with a scheduled examination.
  • Students must be familiar with examination rules and approved materials for each subject and bring all required equipment, including charged calculators where applicable.
  • Students applying for an accelerated VCE subject in Year 11 are required to complete examinations in all subjects.
  • If a student has an examination clash, TAFE commitments or multiple examinations on one day, they will be required to complete an online form available via Canvas. Students will be contacted to confirm any approved arrangements.

If your child is unwell and unable to attend an examination, notify the Frogmore Office. A medical certificate will be required, and the examination will be rescheduled.

VCE Handbook & Subject Guide

The VCE Handbook is an essential resource for students and families designed to help students make informed decisions about their VCE journey. It includes important information about the rules, regulations and policies that support the integrity of the VCE and ensure equity of student access to fair and valid results.

VCE Handbook

In addition to the VCE Handbook, the current Subject Guide provides detailed information about the subjects on offer at VCE as well as any pre-requisite requirements and study pathways.

Pathways & Careers

The focus of Pathways education in Year 11 is to explore course and pathway options beyond Year 12. This includes encouragement to attend Open Days, to attend the Careers Expo in May with the School, and to have 30-minute one-on-one interviews, during which students learn how to effectively use VTAC course search and shortlist possible courses to research in more detail.
