The Year 12 Formal is held in the January holidays each year, two days prior to the first day of Term 1.

The exact date is confirmed with families during the year prior with invites and a booking link sent during Term 4.

All students will sit a full set of trial examinations during the Term 3 holidays for each of their Unit 3/4 subjects.

Opportunities will also be given to students to sit further trial examinations under formal exam conditions during the SWOTVAC week.

• Written VCAA examinations commence late October each year and will end mid-November.
• VCAA publish examination dates in Term 2 each year.
• All Year 12 students are required to sit the GAT in June. The date is determined each year by VCAA.
• Students will sit a trial GAT in preparation, early Term 2.

The VCE Handbook is an essential resource for students and families. It includes important information about the rules, regulations and policies that support the integrity of the VCE and ensure equity of student access to fair and valid results.

Early in the year, Year 12 students attend a session in their House groups to go through all the ins and outs of applying for courses, gap year opportunities, finding work, and key dates for the year.

This information is contained in the hard copy ‘Careering through Year 12’ guidebook that the Pathways and Careers team gives them at the workshop.

Careering through Year 12

Students are invited to meet with a Careers Practitioner throughout the year and attend a compulsory interview in Term 3, during which we assist with their university or TAFE applications.

Career Quest is held in Term 3, where past students share their stories, successes and challenges about study, work and life in general. Students select workshops based on careers they are interested in to hear about different courses and pathway options.

In October, Year 12 students will have their final week of classes, with the final day of that week being the Year 12 Celebration Day.

In previous years, this week has consisted of dress up days with themes such as House colours, sparkle & shine and My Favourite Time.

Valedictory is a significant milestone in the school journey, celebrating the achievements, growth, and contributions of our Year 12 students.

Valedictory marks the conclusion of secondary schooling and provides an opportunity for the School community to acknowledge this important transition.        

• The final Valedictory Dinner is held at Centrepiece, Melbourne Park.
• It is an occasion that recognises both academic and personal accomplishments and provides a moment for parents/carers to celebrate alongside their children.
• It includes formal proceedings, student reflections, and presentations.

Year 12 students have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of cocurricular programs, which play an important role in supporting wellbeing, personal development and a balanced school experience.
