Debating & Public Speaking

Students from Years 5 – 12 can participate in the cocurricular Debating & Public Speaking program, which develops progressively from the junior to senior years.

In the junior years, the focus is on building confidence and learning how to express ideas clearly. As students progress into the middle and senior years, they refine their persuasive speaking, critical thinking, and competitive debating skills through structured training and interschool competitions as part of the Mentone Debating Team.

Debating is a valuable opportunity for students to grow both academically and personally. All interested students are encouraged to get involved; no prior experience is required.
