eSports (Years 5 – 12)
eSports, or competitive video gaming, is an exciting and rapidly growing activity that helps students develop valuable skills both inside and outside the game environment. Through teamwork, communication and strategic thinking, students learn to solve problems, make decisions under pressure, and work collaboratively towards shared goals.
Participation in eSports also fosters leadership, resilience and digital literacy while creating an inclusive and supportive community. By working together to overcome challenges, students build confidence, develop meaningful connections, and strengthen their sense of belonging. It provides opportunities for students from different backgrounds and year levels to come together through a shared passion, creating positive relationships and a strong school community.
Each year we have over 200 students from Years 5 – 12 attending eSports trials with over 60 students competing in person and online competitions including Mario Kart, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros., Just Dance, Beat Saber and Marvel Rivals.
Whether they are experienced gamers or completely new to eSports, students are encouraged to get involved, develop new skills, make new connections, and become part of the growing eSports community at Mentone Grammar.
