All students are required to be signed into and out of the ELC each day.
If you have not already done so, please review the instructions for how to register for digital Sign In Sign Out (SISO).
All parents and authorised nominees you have provided with authority to collect your child/ren will be set up within the Digital SISO app.
Starting ELC is an exciting milestone, but it can also feel overwhelming for both children and parents with many questions from both.
- Will I make friends?
- When will mum or dad come back?
- How do I go to the toilet?
- Will I have food to eat?
- As a parent, what is expected of me?
- Will my child manage?
- How will the staff treat my child?
Don’t worry, we got you! Take time… time for yourself and your child to adjust.
Here are some top tips to help you support your child in the first few days of starting ELC.
- You are welcome to settle your child in the room for up to 10 minutes. Staff may also suggest strategies to ease anxiety.
- Consider early pickups for the first few weeks interspersed with some quiet days at home to help with the transition.
- Be on time for pickup and expect your child to be tired – we suggest going straight home if possible and spending some quiet time relaxing together.
- Label all belongings and practice opening and closing lunch boxes and drink bottles to support independence.
- Pack a labelled comfort toy in your child’s bag for reassurance.
- Discuss any concerns with the teacher to support a fully inclusive environment.
- Remember to keep all toys at home, this helps with lost property and can upset children if something goes missing or accidentally gets broken.
In line with recent regulatory updates regarding child safety, please adhere to the following practices while in the ELC:
- Do not use personal devices such as mobile phones, iPads, or smartwatches during drop-off and pick-up times. These should be kept in your pockets or bags. (Note: Devices may be briefly used for tap-and-pay where needed and/or to verify arrival/pick-up.)
- If you are volunteering during an onsite experience such as swimming, excursions, or classroom support, we ask that your device remains out of sight and unused while you are in the centre. Should you need to make a call, please step outside the Centre grounds to do so.
- Please make sure you are signed in and out of our service using the iPad (PassTab app) in the breezeway when volunteering your services.
- Clear communication strengthens the partnership between families and the ELC. For queries or concerns, please contact the classroom teacher.
- Please note, morning drop-offs can be very busy, so please email or schedule an appointment outside program hours for detailed discussions.
- You will receive regular updates via the School’s communication channels and information about special events and activities.
- The Parents & Friends (P&F) group also provides parent comms via dedicated Parent Reps and offers many opportunities to get involved with the School community.
- Dogs other than Therapy and Guide dogs must NOT be brought into the ELC.
- This policy is non-negotiable and must be adhered to at all times.
We understand that circumstances change and families may need to withdraw their enrolment from the ELC. Please complete the following process:
- A full term’s written notice must be provided before withdrawing a student from the School.
- Failure to give notice will result in one term’s fees being payable.
